Random Thing: June 2014

The anime studio AIC confirmed on Monday that it is working on Ai Tenchi Muyo!, the new Tenchi Muyo! anime series. The studio's website notes the animation production is moving forward, and that the official website will open this summer.

The city of Takahashi in Okayama Prefecture announced last month that it is sponsoring the new anime. The anime will be set in Takahashi, as the city hopes fans will come on a "pilgrimage" to see the setting of the anime, and plans to sell goods and host related events. The series is slated to run for 50 five-minute episodes on Tokyo MX starting in October.

AIC produced the first Tenchi Muyo! original video anime series and the projects that followed. The franchise is celebrating its 20th anniversary with this new project.

It look like it might be a reboot.

It looks like Astro Boy (known as Tetsuwan Atom, the Mighty Atom in Japan) may be getting a new animated television series. A poster has made an appearance on the internet for "Astro Boy Reboot" which advertised as a new animated series running 26 episodes at 26 minutes per episode.

Not much else has been revealed about this project though the poster does have the Tezuka Productions logo on it (the legendary manga-ka Osamu Tezuka is the created Astro Boy in 1952), and also the logo for the animation production company Shibuya Productions who tweeted it out. Shibuya Productions is related to Shibuya International which has the distribution rights to Astro Boy in the French-speaking parts of Europe.
